Made to order at the bench. Cut, saddle-stitched, and finished by hand once you order. Delivered in 2–3 weeks. Only a handful of bags leave the bench each week.

The Weekender is built from full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather with a quiet, timeless character. It softens and develops a rich patina through years of travel, so no two bags ever age in quite the same way.

Who carries The Weekender

The frequent traveller

You board four flights a month. You are tired of bags that buckle, zip-pulls that snap, and wheels that seize. This bag will outlive every airline you have ever flown.

The one who buys once

You have purchased bags before. You are done with replacing them. You want the last one — the one you hand down. This is it.

The person who notices things

You notice the stitching on a shoe, the weight of a pen, the grain of a table. You will notice this bag. So will everyone in the room.

Not all leather is equal

One hide. One maker.
Fourteen hours.

01

The hide is selected

Every bag begins with a single piece of full-grain, vegetable-tanned hide. We examine the surface, weight, and grain before cutting. No two hides are alike, and no two bags will be either.

02

Cut by hand

Each panel is cut by hand using pattern-guided blades. The cutting follows the grain and avoids imperfections — maximising strength and visual honesty. Machine cutting could not do this.

03

Saddle-stitched

Every seam is hand-worked with two needles and waxed linen thread. This is the oldest and strongest stitch in leatherwork: a single broken thread can never run. It takes three times as long as machine stitching. There is no faster way to do it properly.

04

Finished and inspected

Hardware is set and tested. Edges are burnished. The bag is packed and signed off by the maker who built it — not a quality inspector, but the person whose hands made it. It leaves the bench only when it is ready.

Worth every penny

"The leather is extraordinary. I have carried this bag on three continents and it is already developing a beautiful patina. My grandfather had a leather briefcase that looked better at forty years old than the day it was bought. I suspect this will be the same."

★★★★★
The last bag I will ever buy

"I ordered the Tan Brown after years of replacing cheaper luggage. The craftsmanship is not something you can photograph — you have to hold it. Every seam, every rivet, every inch of it is considered. It arrived in three weeks exactly as promised."

★★★★★
Turns heads at every airport

"Three weeks from order to doorstep — and worth every day of the wait. People at the airport actually stop to ask about it. The brown is a colour that photographs cannot capture. In person it has depth."

Questions & answers

Each Weekender is made to order. Once you place your order, your bag is cut and assembled at the bench over approximately fourteen hours. It is then shipped to you. Total time from order to delivery is two to three weeks. We send a tracking number the moment it leaves us.

Everything. Broken stitching, failing hardware, worn edges, damaged wheels or handle — we repair it at no cost, for the life of the bag. You pay only for shipping to us. We cover the return. There are no terms or exclusions worth noting.

Yes. Vegetable-tanned full-grain leather develops a patina with use — darkening in areas of contact, softening, and acquiring a depth of colour that improves over years. This is not a defect. It is the most valued quality of this leather. The bag you receive will look better at ten years old than the day it arrives.

The Weekender measures 55 × 35 × 25 cm — a checked hold bag. It is sized for weekend and week-long journeys, not for overhead lockers. If you are looking for a carry-on, please contact us; we are happy to advise on packing strategies or discuss future sizes.

Yes. We accept returns within 30 days of delivery for bags in unused and original condition. Because each bag is made to order, we ask that you inspect it carefully on arrival. If anything is not as it should be — a defect, a mark, anything — contact us immediately and we will make it right without question.

Wipe with a slightly damp cloth and allow to dry naturally, away from direct heat. Condition with a natural beeswax or leather balm once or twice a year. That is all it needs. The leather does the rest — ageing slowly, gracefully, and better than the day it left the bench.

The Leather & Hold promise

for life.

We make a single bag and we stand behind it completely. If anything ever fails — in one year or in thirty — we will repair it. No cost, no questions, no end date on the promise.

Why Leather & Hold
makes it differently.

01

Full-Grain Only

The strongest, most honest cut of the hide — bearing the natural surface intact. Nothing split, bonded, or corrected.

02

Saddle-Stitched by Hand

Two needles, waxed linen. The oldest and strongest stitch in leatherwork. A single broken thread can never run.

03

Made Singly, to Order

Your bag does not exist until you order it. Cut and assembled at the bench alone, over fourteen hours. No batches.

04

Repaired for Life

We repair every bag we have ever made, for as long as it exists. Bring it back in ten years or thirty. We will set it right.
